Question 1

How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in East Denver?

Accepted Answer

Custom window treatments typically range from under $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote requires measuring the actual windows. Made in the Shade East Denver includes a free in-home consultation — owners Mark and Julie Ham measure every window, show samples in your home's real light, and tailor the quote to your actual project. Call (720) 303-5962 to book.

Question 2

What window treatments work best for Denver's high-altitude sun?

Accepted Answer

At Denver's altitude the UV is about 20% stronger than at sea level, so sun-fighting products work best: spectrally selective solar shades block solar heat and UV while preserving your mountain views, cellular shades add insulation for the big temperature swings, and shutters add a durable climate shield. West- and south-facing rooms benefit most. With 300 days of sunshine a year, protecting floors, furniture, and finishes from fading is a priority in nearly every East Denver home.

Question 3

Are you locally owned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Made in the Shade East Denver is locally owned and operated by Mark and Julie Ham, who personally handle the consultation, measuring, and installation. You work directly with the owners, not a call center or a big-box retailer. Julie brings a background in interior design and Mark in local business, so you get both design guidance and dependable service.

Question 4

Do cellular shades really lower energy bills?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cellular (honeycomb) shades trap a layer of insulating air against the glass, reducing heat loss in Denver's cold snaps and heat gain during the sunny days. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates cellular shades can cut window heat gain by up to 40%. That insulation is especially valuable with Denver's dramatic temperature swings, easing the load on your Xcel Energy bill year-round.

Question 5

How does the free in-home consultation work?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade brings the showroom to you: Mark and Julie come to your home, review products and samples in your actual light, take professional measurements, and give you a quote. After you order, they handle professional installation for a precise fit. No fighting traffic or parking at a retail center — you compare colors and textures against your own walls, floors, and Colorado light.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade East Denver serves Centennial, Aurora, Bennett, Denver, Greenwood Village, and the surrounding areas, including neighborhoods like Saddle Rock, Blackstone, Tallyns Reach, Copperleaf, Heritage Eagle Bend, and the communities around DIA. The mobile showroom comes to your home anywhere in the service area. Call (720) 303-5962 to confirm we cover your neighborhood.
